GrafanaSight release notes — May 2026
Summary
Section titled “Summary”This initial GrafanaSight release helps Confluence teams replace stale dashboard screenshots with live Grafana Cloud context. Space admins can connect a Confluence space to Grafana Cloud, then users can embed panels, dashboard summaries, alert health, status badges, and annotation timelines directly in runbooks and incident pages.
New features
Section titled “New features”- Space configuration: Connect each Confluence space to its own Grafana Cloud URL and service account token.
- Panel snapshot macros: Choose detailed or compact display modes, refresh manually, and use relative or absolute time ranges.
- Dashboard discovery: Browse folders, tags, dashboards, panels, and alert context from the Dashboard Overview and Dashboard Library views.
- Alert-focused macros: Add alert summaries, status badges, and annotation timelines to operational pages.
- Page-level refresh: Refresh supported GrafanaSight macros on a Confluence page and review refreshed or failed counts.
- Service-health byline: See active Grafana alert health and open the GrafanaSight dashboard directly on the Alerts tab.
- GrafanaSight Rovo Specialist: Ask questions about synced dashboards and alerts with freshness context when data may be stale.
- Marketplace licensing: Paid app surfaces and Grafana data access reflect the installation’s Atlassian Marketplace license state.
Bug fixes and improvements
Section titled “Bug fixes and improvements”- Setup guidance: Explains first sync and partial-sync states after credentials are saved.
- Safer settings actions: Disables save, test, load, and refresh controls while another settings operation is running.
- Token privacy: Stored token identifiers are no longer displayed in the configuration view.
- Panel fallback: Panel macros can show a recent snapshot when live rendering is unavailable while preserving freshness context.
- Responsive synced views: Rovo and macro experiences can use previously synced data.
- Rate-limit feedback: Connection testing shows clearer retry timing after too many requests.
- Admin-facing errors: Settings messages no longer expose low-level transport wording.
- Last-success protection: Failed or partial sync runs no longer overwrite the last successful sync state.
- Absolute time ranges: Panel rendering preserves ranges that start at epoch
0. - Panel validation: Invalid configured panel IDs are rejected before rendering.
- Refresh failures: Alert summaries, dashboard overviews, and annotation timelines handle refresh errors more clearly.
Scope changes
Section titled “Scope changes”None. This is GrafanaSight’s first public release.
Admin action required
Section titled “Admin action required”For a new installation, install GrafanaSight from Atlassian Marketplace. In each target space, open GrafanaSight Space Settings, add the Grafana Cloud URL and service account token, test the connection, then load dashboards and alerts.
Known limitations
Section titled “Known limitations”- GrafanaSight does not create Confluence incident or postmortem pages automatically from Rovo responses in this release.
- Live panel rendering depends on the connected Grafana Cloud instance and render endpoint. A recent panel snapshot may be shown when live rendering fails.
- Macro auto-conversion depends on Confluence editor behavior. If a pasted Grafana URL does not convert, insert the matching GrafanaSight macro manually and configure it with the same URL details.
- Compact macro layouts can be affected by Confluence page layout and available column width.
