Installation

Install GrafanaSight into the Atlassian site where your team writes runbooks. After installation, each Confluence space can be configured separately, so teams can decide which spaces should connect to Grafana.

You need:

  • Confluence administrator access for the Atlassian site.
  • Space administrator access for the Confluence space you want to configure.
  • A Grafana Cloud instance URL that uses HTTPS and ends in grafana.net.
  • A Grafana service account token with read permissions for dashboards, folders, alerts, annotations, and datasources.
  1. Open the Atlassian Marketplace listing for GrafanaSight for Confluence.
  2. Select the Confluence site where your runbooks live.
  3. Approve the installation.
  4. Open the target Confluence space.
  5. Confirm that GrafanaSight appears in the space navigation or app area.

Before configuration, GrafanaSight intentionally shows an onboarding state and a not-configured byline. This is normal.

Create a Grafana service account token for GrafanaSight. The token should have the least access needed for the dashboards and alerts that will appear in Confluence.

Recommended permissions:

CapabilityWhy GrafanaSight uses it
Dashboards readLoad dashboard names, UIDs, folders, tags, and panel definitions.
Folders readOrganize the Confluence dashboard library by Grafana folder.
Alert rules readShow active alert rules and alert summaries.
Alert instances readShow current alert state.
Annotations readDisplay deployment and incident markers when available.
Datasources readSupport dashboard metadata and panel rendering context.

Keep the token outside Confluence pages and docs. Enter it only in GrafanaSight configuration.

GrafanaSight adds:

  • Panel macros for detailed and compact panel snapshots.
  • Dashboard macros for detailed and compact dashboard references.
  • Alert summary, status badge, and annotation macros.
  • A GrafanaSight space dashboard.
  • A space configuration page.
  • A page refresh byline item.
  • A service-health byline item.
  • A Rovo Specialist for cache-first Grafana questions.
